Default High Mileage 4.6s

At what point is getting a GT useless mile-wise (100,000? 150,000?). For my budget ($8000 give or take a grand) I can only seem to find GTs with mileage above 90,000. I have been looking for over a month and cannot seem to find what I want for that price on any car with under 90,000 miles. Most I have seen are up in the 110,000. How long do these engines last? I only drive about 8,000 miles a year and will only have this car through college (about 4 years). What specific things should I look at to make sure the engine was taken care of? Anything else I should thing about?

It really depends where you live. Down here by New Orleans cars cost so much more than up north. I just bought my 2002 GT with 26,000 bone stock for 14,500.
