my 98 vert auto seems stock to me and pulls hard almost to 6000. My 9.8 1/8th was right there with the 99-04 guys...maybe traction was more of an issue for them than me.

In a MM & FF issue I think it was the mustang shootout issue they dynod a 40th anniv. GT and it only put down 224 rwhp. I remember in another MM&FF issue when they first started modding project RSC, stock it put down like 198 I think. with just a few bolt ons they were right around that territory. im just sayin it dosen't take that many mods to get into PI stock territory. And when are you gonna get that thing lowered man, if you havent already?
I wish mine was at 198 when it was stock...it was 180 on a DJ...i have seen others in the 190's...stock PI's usually Dyno in the 230-235rwhp range but i have also seen some do low 220's...

The NPI's have decent lowend grunt but the 99-04's usually spank them on the top end and thats why its hard for some to believe...but Johnny Langton was just in MMFF winning a event in Texas in his 97 Tbird with NPI engine...he won the modular division and was running low to mid 12's NA

hell it took them full exhaust/intake boltons to not even break 210 WHP man. With the cams it was around 230 or so if I remeber right, maybe a little less.

You don't nessicarrily need 225~ WHP to beat a 99-04 (gears and tires would help alot) but the power curve on the NPI cars just isn't there.

put it this way, have you ever seen a 98 race a 99-04? It looks like a LS1 racing a Pi 2v

I just bought all the stuff to swap my 98 gt to pi heads either buy a kit or go to a perfomance shop and get a used set that are in good shape i got the pi heads off a 99 lighting with cams that had been econo ported and upgraded spring and race valvrs for 600.00. brand new pi intake 200.00 pi head changing 100.00 i still need to buy my water hose so you can save a few dollars. if you can get the heads with the 99-04 cams it will make a diff and save you some cash from buying new cams also since the 96to-98 camshafts were.480 inch of valve lift with the production 1.791 rocker arm ratio and valve duration at .050 inches of lift is 204 degrees on the intake and 208 on the exhaust. in 99 the cams valve lift went up to .535 inches on the intake and to .505 inches on the exhaust with the duration dropping to 192 degrees on the intake and 184 degrees on the exhaust the combo of more lift and less duration adds low end torque

yeah right, lets see you race an LS1 motor to motor then and you let me no the results. BTW the 04 GT only made 214 to the wheels in stock trim.
