i have a 97 GT(look at mi signature for the mods)
i am going to do a PI upgrade(head and intake) and i am wondering wich cams to choose.i would like a kinda rough idle like the SHM cams gives.
but i have heard bad things about SHM service.
anyway wich cams do you suggest.
i might ad a supercharger but not in a near future.

What is the diff between blower cams and just regular stage 1 and up cams?

 

i believe and i am probably wrong, that the blower cams keep the valves open on the exhaust cycle a little longer. sorry for posting about something i am not sure of.

i have vt stage 1 and a vortech, they seem to do fine for me. I would guess i would get more power from blower cams but i am getting into a hp area that i dont want to approach the safe limit of the internals (i hit 426 on a crappy tune).

 

why do cams ?? why not just save up for a s/c and get more horsepower for your money ??

 

the pre 99 4.6 has compression too high for a s/c unless you build it, unless he did the pi swap.

 

the cost of a S/C here in canada would round up close to 3000$CDN
the cost of the nitrous kit,the heads and intake cost me around 1100$ CDN.
ad the cams am i am around half the price of a S/C
i do the work myself so the only cost not in yet are the gaskets.
and remember that with the stock internal 400Hp is aqbout the safest max.

Stage 1 cams really wont give you a rough idle... Its a little more noticable than stock. But you would have to go with atleast stage 2 to hear it.

 

any feedback about the comp cam Xtreme Energy XE270AH Cams??
