best CAI
i just bought an 02 mustang GT about a week ago and i was wondering which is the best, i know that they all do the same and no real horsepower difference but i was wondering which breathes better i was looking to getting a BBK or KN
The brand does matter!! I know this from experience. As long as it fits good your fine. What happened to me was I figured what the hell a CAI is a CAI and i bought one off of EBAY for $30 brand new. It was the biggest piece of crap ever. It had a horrible finish on it and the elbow that goes into the throttle body barely made it. I had the rubber connection almowst all the way off the intake and it still barely made it to the throttle body. I tryed adjusting everything on it and it still barely fit. So one day i was driving and my car went crazy, it just stalled and when i started it up it ran fine then when i acellerated it had no power it kept hesitating and then it stalled again, so i pulled over and the intake came off so i had to loosen the clamp and put it back on. it didnt happen all the time but it was aggravating.
I recently bought a BBK CAI and had no problems with it. But with the BBK I noticed a big difference in HP compared to the EBAY CRAP SPECIAL. You can actually hear the air sucking in. Go with any intake just make sure it is a known brand. usually the prices are not too much different. I knoww BBK has a pretty low price and a very nice chrome finish.

I've got the BBK piece... it looks nice at the least. It is metal, so it will absorb a lot of engine heat. None of the CAIs are going to give you much though... the JLT RAI seems nice. The best part of the BBK one, I think, is that the filter is in the fenderwell (up high) so I don't need to worry about it when washing my engine bay, nor have to worry about water getting up to where it is while driving.
