I may be a lttile crazy, but why would you want to do that with a 01 Cobra block? What are you gaining?

I may be shooting in the breeze here, but the 01 Cobra bottom end isn't much different than the GT. I thought it was 03-04 Cobras that had the forged internals. I may be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

You gain 80lbs back!! The cobra aluminum block weights 80lbs less... But sorry to burst your bubble, that 01 cobra short block does come with a forged 8 bolt crank which is good for about 1500hp. The block is good to about 600hp but the rods and pistons are the same peices offered in the GT's.. So the the rods and the pistons are powdered metal which means there good to about 400-450hp. So looks like your back at the limit of a GT. But you save 80lbs. They say 100lbs. is worth 1/10 of a second in the quarter.

No, they are not.

99 and 01 cobras had a forged crank ONLY. The rods and pistons are the same hyper-pathetic pieces that are in the GT's.

Yeah they will fit.... Just buy new rods and pistons and you will be good to 600hp atleast. If not more.
