Default exhaust install

My borla catback just came to my door today. I'm really really excited. I'm just waiting for my BBK O/R X pipe to come in aswell and then I'll be ready to install it with friends. To those of you who know and have done it before, how hard is it to install a catback and midpipe? Will I be able to do it ok by just ramping up the front and putting jacks in the back? I want to be really careful about this, dont want anyone to get hurt. If it's a real pain in the *** then I'll just have a local car modification place do it for me.

I did both in my driveway with 2 friends. The exact setup you just explained.

The header bolts that hook up to the midpipe really sucked *** getting off, especially on the passenger side. Its alot easier putting the car on a lift as it would have cut our install time down alot. I also had to cut off my stock tailpipes because of the curve in them it would not clear the ground to get off.

Took alot longer than expected though. Make sure you have the correct tools with swivel head sockets.

it can be done but don't expect it to go very quick. Gotta plan for hickups, bring PB blaster and a torch because sometimes nuts are really stubborn

I only had trouble with one bolt. The pass side inside bolt where the mid connects to the manifold. PB will be your best friend and a saws all.

if PB wont work, take an oxygen/mapp gas torch (sears sells for liek $20) and heat the nuts red hot, they come out then. I had to do this a while back

what they said... however, if you get discouraged, adn want someone else to do it

just find someone who will do the uncatted pipe "off the clock, or not in the computer" and don't pay more than 50$, its like an hour job for someone with the perfect tools/lift

I just installed a MAC O/R H pipe last week. Its a fairly simple straightforward installation. If you decide to do it, make sure you have at least one person helping you or you will cuss like never before trying to get the mid pipe bolted up to the mufflers. I put mine on ramps up front and put jackstands under the axles in the back so i had an equal amount of crawl space under the whole car. I would recommend spraying some PB on the bolts every 15 min or so for a few hours before you start to take the old pipes off. All in needed was a 15mm socket(deep and regular), 22mm wrench for the O2 sensors, and about 2ft of extensions with one swivel socket. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to do by myself.

I cant help ya on the other as i bought my car with the mufflers already on.

I'm taking my car tomorrow to get my SLP catback and X-pipe mounted. They said they would charge me $70 for it all. Is that about average or what?

yeah, they should charge you about 1/2 hour labor for a cat back... so that is a bit high but eh they gotta make some sort of profit

If you have the money and do not want to do it yourself then that is not a bad price for the x and cats.
