haha i might get crap for this but idc...if you want a nice cheap and decently fast car
buy a 89-92 ford probe GT
2.2 turbo charged and they can be modded..also these cars are CHEAP
they are like 5 grand tops...that leaves you with another 6 to mod lol
i have a 89 gl (non turbo) and i drive the thing year around and get about 30MPG
i dont know how much the turbo is gonna hurt the MPG

get a used wrx...if u cant find a used wrx in ur price rang..then get a rs..thats the subaru below toe wrx. or put 10,000 down payment on a 06 STI..anmd put the rest in ur bank and pay off the car ??

damn people are hella dumb....i BLEED FORD BLUE and still like WRXs and other foreign cars....and like someone said more "FOREIGN" cars are made here and our "domestic" cars are made out of the US...so STFU!...and whoever suggested the S4 is a due-moss....my dad's buddy had one and his climate control unit went out 3 times in 1.5 years...and cost $1600 a piece to replace (not covered under warranty)...the S4 is fast as hell but European cars have the WORST relaibility...plus that wouldn't be under a $16k budget...and he'd go into debt paying insurance...and you know what that guy sold his S4 for?...an 03 Mustang GT...which he traded for a C6 Vette 2 years later lol...

I say SVT Focus even though they take Prem fuel and I've heard a few reliability probs but nothing major....i will own one of those cars soon and it WILL be Comp Orange...OR the WRX...cousin has one...its great, reliable, and fast....OR the new Mazdaspeed 3 but that is a little out of your budget...good luck man!
