Default x vs. h pipe

i currently have a flowmaster catback and i wanted to add a new midpipe. i was wondering what the pros and cons were for the x and h pipes? is there any other mods that you have to do to get an x pipe on there?

I have a BBK X pipe...it sounds great, but I have long tubes too so they add to the sound.

i've heard that both of them sound good. is the sound the only difference or do they perform better? installation?

the install on the H and X are the same. The H pipe sounds a lot better then an X in my opinion because the X sounds raspy but it is sound preference to your ears. go to mustangexhaust.com and listen to sound clips to choose what you like. they a lot of different setups on there. I don't know what year your car is or what you have done to it, but they say with the 99 and up mustangs the X is better for HP, because it is a RPM motor and the X pipe creates more power and torque then a H pipe because they merge your exhaust pulses at the X. traditional H pipes loses this ability above 3000rpm and the H becomes non-functional. I have heard that the HP difference isn't tremendous

I have heard that the X pipe sounds raspy, but I have also heard it has a deeper rumble when you add LT's so depending on what you have done to your car really plays a big role on the sound.

I have a MAC O/R H pipe with flowamster 40's. I love it, sounds very deep and powerful. I havent delt with X pipes before, but ive read that they will give you a small power increase over H pipes because the X is a smoother crossover which makes flow just a little better.

yougivemerash, your car sounds wicked
