squeaking while accelerating
Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any idea what this sound could be?
When I start to accelerate from a start, no matter how slow or fast, there is a loud screeching, sounds like metal on metal.
But when I'm turning or slowing down, there isnt any noise at all.
My friend suggested that it might be the U-joint. A
Anyone got any ideas?

yeah dude my car did that as well and it was a u joint. a simple check is pull the drive shaft off, and then try to pivot all the joints. Believe me, you'll know a bad one when you feel it...
also, check your belt and tensioner, those could cause that as well

thanks. The pulleys make a whirring noise come to think of it. The whirring noise doesnt go away either but I figured it was nothing much. Ill check the tensioner and the U-joints

yeah when I pulled my drive shaft, all the u joint pivot points were good except one, and when i went to move it, it was very stiff and make a crunching/squealing sounds so I replaced both joints

come to think of it... you'll need either a 10mm or 12 mm (can't remember) 12 point wrench or socket to get the 4 bolts off the back of the drive shaft, then it just slides right out of the trans, but be gentle with the trans end of the shaft because it has a machined surface on it

*bump*
I went to Belle Tire and they said that the eibach springs had either been installed wrong or that they were the wrong kind because the springs were rubbing against the driveshaft. He said that maybe the guy had gotten cobra springs and tried to put them on a GT. So he said that it would be a couple hundred to take them off and I could put the stock springs on. I went to this other place and the guy said that springs wouldnt rub against the driveshaft and that he could swap the springs but also suggested spraying it out with a lithium grease. So I got under it and sprayed the top part of the two rear springs since the bottom didnt look like it could come in contact with anything else.
What do you guys suggest?
