I have been impressed with the #'s (Dyno) KB's put down, but far from impressed on #'s at the track.

KBs, like any SC, can be cooled. If I remember correctly, KBs are after cooled. My point is: they can be ordered either way.

imho: NEVER EVER buy a modded car. Do the modding yourself, so you know what's in there. This sort of thing bites you in the ***. Go search for a standard 98 cobra and go from there. You will pick them up for considerably less, and they are more reliable than tuned up cobras.

And another thing, no mod, how expensive it might be, adds more dollar value to a car. It depreciates if anything because it’s not original anymore. Naturally this is up for debate, but this is jus my 2 cents on the subject.

98 Cobra Conv

My brother, who lives next door, is buying this car.. We went and looked at it.. The car is in dam good condition.. Other than minor rock chips the body is perfect.. We estimate that the car it self is worth about $13,000 to $14,000.. The guy clearly has $15,000 in mods.. Thus, if the car w/o mods is worth $13,000 and he has $15,000 in mods its a pretty good deal for $16,500..

We drove it and the engine is strong, the tranny shifted perfect and there wasn't a spec of fluids on the ground where he had it parked..

Do you think its a good deal?

P.S. What is 31 spline axles, Auburn Pro diff.? What does it do and what do you think it cost to buy and have installed?

I can't say for sure wiether or not its a good deal ( I would have to see the book value/going rate for a car of this year/model/condition/miles etc) but there is no where near 15K worth of mods into that car.

Even assuming he has a full exhaust the only thing that was really costly was the KB. Everything else on that page is well under about 2500 bucks.

Remeber that according to the bank modifications do not add any value to a car, so I would not pay much more than a few thousand more for it that what i would stock.

HOWEVER, if its only got 29K on it, and it books within a few grand, I would jump on the deal. You won't find many cars of that year with 29K on them and a blower already installed. And reagardless of your stance on centri vs KB, any blower (other than a powerdyne) is better than no blower.

Ditto. I totally agree with you. I would never buy somebody else's project. Something made him give up on it. Why after so much money he obviously put down? Did he get tired of replacing parts? Does he not have the money to finish in the direction the car is already going? Did he do something wrong back in the initial phase that is keeping him from finishing because he needs to start over? You never know.

Unless I help the guy( or gal) build the car then I will take no part in buying it.
