How to reset e-brake tension - 96 Cobra
Hi guys,
Newbie here. Stupid first post I know. I am having a problem w/ the parking brake on my cobra. The other day I pulled it up & something snapped. I checked the cables at the rear & at the equalizer & everything appears fine. I pulled the center console & noticed that the spring on the e-brake handle lost its tension.
Does anyone know how to reset the spring tension, or if a special tool is needed?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Tom

If something "snapped" , something broke. That is why you do not have any spring tension. What broke is the problem.
Do you have any e-brake at all?
When you said you checked the cable, what did you check? The cable or the sleeve that the cable runs through?
Grab a hold of the cable at the e-brake lever side with a pair of vice grips and pull. You'll find out in a hurry if it's a broken cable or not.
You might want to check the spring tensioners on the rear calipers as well.
By the way, NOT a stupid first post.
However, stupid first answer to your first post.
