Default Driveline noise normal?

I haven't had a chance to check TSB's yet, but I've noticed a "thunk" sound in my driveline. Occurs on accel, decel, and gear engagement (clutch disengaged), at a standstill. Sounds and feels like extra lash in the rear. Car's an '01 Cobra, only 20K miles on it. Just started driving it last week, and this is the only noticeable issue. Just wondering if this is common with the cars. It's got 4 new tires on it, so I'm thinking that maybe the 1 previous owner roasted the tires off and maybe did some rear damage haha. Might be a good excuse for me to pick up my 4.10's now!

Could be U-joints, or possibly worn rear gears.. Do you get a whirring, or howling when you drive it??

No noise while driving, just when I'm putting initial power to the drivetrain. Definately feels like theres extra clearance in there somewhere. If the gears were worn, I figure there would be some kind of whine when driving. I take it that this isn't a common problem afterall. I'll be able to get a better look at things this weekend when its up on the lift.

I have the same noises. This has been described to me as "rollover" by the stealerships. Just another perk of driving a stang I guess.
