Default Thinking about trading the stang in

Well I think the time has come to trade the stang. I have had nothing but problems from my transmission since day one. I had the trans rebuilt but it still has a slight grind going into third gear. I have been to three different dealerships and they all say this is normal for a Mustang and that i'm picky. My last car was an Acura that had the smoothest shifting gear box ever and my stang shifts like a damn truck. Does anyone else agree with the Ford dealerships that i'm just picky or is my trans a POS. Please let me have your opinions, I love my stang but this $hit is driving me nuts.

there nothing wrong with your car, other than it is american made. I had hondas for years, the wife still does, and the stang is nothing but a rattle-trap in comparison. I think we kinda accept that when buying a ford.

My car has 73,000 miles but the new trans only has about 6000 miles on it. Ford says the problem can't be fixed and all Mustangs shift like mine.

Yea pretty much all Mustangs have a linky gearbox..even the 03 Cobras sound sloppy I noticed that when I drove one. I guess we all have to live with driving a Mustang lol

Before I trade it in i'm going to get a MGW shifter and see if that helps. I don't want to trade my stang but damn it's got to the point where it pisses me off to drive it.

+1. You're not gonna find a single Mustang that will shift even 1/5th close to the silky smooths shifts in a similar priced foreign car.

The MGW will help A LOT. This is why I don't LOVE stangs. They are good, but not great. Good value when you find them used.

Face it.. The mustang isn't the most expensive car out there and you get what you pay for.. You might be picky.. You might have a problem.. I'd have to drive it to determine whether or not I feel you have a problem..

However, if thats your chief complant then its not that big of a deal if you ask me.. The cars a built anticipating they will be beat on.. Maybe its built like that to handle the abuse.. Or maybe its just a piece-o-chit..

Wish you luck..

P.S. If you bought your Mustang as a DD then thats half your problem.. Their great to get in, beat on and put back into the garage.. I drive an Intrepid as a DD.. Drives nice, shifts nice, comfortable on long trips.. But, when I want power and to turn heads as I drive by I hop in the stang.. IMO..
