Default X-pipe Question! please help!

I purchased an 03 mutang gt about a week ago. This is my second stang but first that i actually plan to modify. I am doing 40 series flowmasters on it tomarrow and i was going to do a mac offroad x-pipe. Well the guy doing my flows says that putting an x-pipe will make me lose power and make my car run horrible and i didnt understand this? How will throwing a mac offroad x-pipe on my car affect it and how is installation on one of these? Thanks for your time

Go get that put on. Your not going to lose power. Your car isnt going to run horrible, everybody gets an x or h pipe. Some say that the midpipes reduce low end torque, this may or may not be true. Even if it is true its low end torque, who cares? thats not going to affect your performance because you dont race with your low rpms.

That guy obviously is a moron. Get an o/r h pipe with the flows imo, it sounds really good. You'll only gain hp, not lose it.

What they said, my O/R X is sitting next to my Borla stingers and both of those wont do anything but scare small children and add hp.

Thanks for replying. Now another question. What is the sound/performance difference going to be between a mac offroad h and x pipe going to be? And how difficult are these to install? Any welding involved?

You dont need to weld. The H is going to be a deeper sound. Personally I dont like the X, it sounds too high pitch when you start reving it up. performance is going to be very close so Just pick it based on the sound you want.

H supposedly gives more torque whereas the X supposedly gives more hp and high end power. The sound difference is that the X pipe will be louder and have more of a rasp, whereas the H is a more deep, classic sound. I originally wanted an H pipe but I went with the O/R X last second. The install...I really dont want to talk about. I was putting my X pipe on and I couldnt get the bolts to go in and I accidently stripped the passenger side bolt that connects to the exhaust manifold to midpipe flange. I was extremely disappointed when I found out I did this. I can't put on any of my exhaust and now my old one is cut up. Im stuck w/ open exhaust manifolds until I can get her towed to get it fixed. Other then my little mishap it was all fairly easy. My only advice is have a friend with you and make sure you jack it up safely.
