toped out at 110
i was driving on the interstate the other day and decided to top out my stang thinking that i could get it up to 125 or so but it stopped at 110 and was reved up to about 3600 rpm. does this mean that it has gears or that it has a govenor on it? it is a '99 gt with a few mods that are listed in my sig. what does everyone else's odometer read when you guys top out?

I had a '00 GT and it would run 130 in forth gear, sounds like someone had the computer played with to lower the gov, maybe some dad did it for their teenager that drove it.I'm pretty sure they have govenors, but I think their set around 150mph stock.

I've been to 125-130 (not sure on the exact speed... was in neutral on the highway on a mountain-sized hill I heard more wind noise than I would expect and looked down to see my speedometer over 125... and I wondered why everyone had their brakes on and I was flying by... hooray for hills).
The governer stock on a 99-04 GT is 145 MPH, because that is what the tires are rated to. You need a re-tune to move it.
