Default 5 to 6 Speed?

Just curious how difficult it would be to swap out for a 6 speed tranny, what advantages there are(if any) to doing it, and how much it would cost.

Thanks all

it's not difficult if you have the cash for it. basically the tranny/bellhousing, new driveshaft, and shifter...i think thats about it, someone correct me if I'm wrong. You may be able to search the forums or look on google to find more info.

Don't quote me on this but I think that I read somewhere that you need to swap in different trans crossmember. But that might have been when I was looking to swap the T5 out of my old fox.

There are complete kits to do it, all you need to do is shorten the driveshaft. If its not a viper spec T56(assuming you want a T56) it isnt really worth it. The cobra T56 and the Tremec have the same overdrive ratio.l

It'll cost about $2800. Look in any 5.0 M&SF mag and there are kits available.....

its easier than going from auto to 5 speed. get a used 03 cobra transmission. alot of the cobra guys go to built automatics and you can get a complete tranny bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, tranny for like $1500 and then just go to a drivetrain shop and have them make you a new driveshaft

Yea but no one has yet claimed any advantages of going from 5 to 6 speed. Is it worth the $1500-2800? Can the 6 speeds handle more power than the 5 speeds?
