Shorty or Full Length Headers...
I've been seriously considering getting headers but I've seen both Shorty headers and Full Length Tube headers in various ads. What are the advantages/disadvantages between both types? I know that if I install the shorties they will hook right up to the factory H pipes and I wouldn't have to screw around with the Cat-back system that I have on it right now. But if I go with the full lengths, it would require (I would suppose) changes to the current exhaust system.
I'd like the straight sh*t....[sm=helpout.gif]

well #1 l/t will not pass emissions if you live in cali
l/t will give you more power and sound
shoties will give you little power and good sound
so if you dont care about passing smog then deffinatly get the l/t's but if it is an issue get the shorties i just installed my shorties and so far im am happy with them i can tell the car breaths better and i the sound was greatly improved hope this helps

I'm goin shorty when I do my setup, they give you improved flow, still decent low end, and they clear better too. also, I'm not building an insane race car so I don't need LT
Your right about changing the mid-pipe if you go with the full length headers. The full length have to have a shorter mid pipe due to the longer tubes on the headers. You wouldnt have to change your cat back, just the mid pipe.
The shorty headers would be a direct bolt up to your exhaust you have right now. The shortys would give some power gains, but not as much as the long tubes. I think the long tubes give a better sound than shortys also.
Im saving up for a set of full lengths myself. If I'm going to change the stock manifolds out, the way i see it is go ahead and get what will give the most power gains so i will only have to do this once. It will be more expensive because you have to get the short mid-pipe, but id rather have the more power with the full lengths.

I'm glad to see both sides to this question. To answer Cornbread01, I don't live in CA. so luckily I don't have the problem with emissions. And just like Monkeydude3, I'm not looking to build a racer but I am looking for mods that will improve the driveability. Keeping the low end torque is high on my list. But Hotrod7687 has good points about going with the full lengths. Decisions, decisions!
I think it's time to open up a cold one...[sm=icon_guiness.gif]
