As for the 3k at 40mph in 4th. Thats just a guess I cant really remember what the exact rpm is. But its pretty high up there. I need a 6 speed!
i got back from my gas station run, at 40 mph in 4th with 410s is 2200rpm. at 3K, it is 55 mph. It is those kinda guesses that wig people out

With 4.30's I could cruise out in 5th gear around 30-35mph.
thats tight

at 40mph cruising... usually in 4th at about 2k rpms.

I can't really remember my rpm levels cruisin when i had my 96, but i still got 21 mpg out on the highway... But it was damn loud inside so it didn't see the highway much after i changed the gears

i use 5th gear all the time, saves gas
+1 I can cruise at 40-45mph in 5th gear w/ my 3.55s no problem. You should have no problem in 5th at that speed.

It is so funny to read all of these topics about cruising RPM's and feul milage with 4.10’s

I for one LOVE cruising @ low rpm’s, and because of that I leave the gearing as is. I don't want anything to screw with my cruise ability on the highway. You want speed in the ¼ mile and more nippy acceleration? Get gears, but don’t bitch about cruising in 5th when going low speeds, or your mpg for that matter. You brought that upon yourself when you got those gears.

i usually cruise between 1500 and 2000 rpm. if im driving normally i usually shift at the 2k mark. i dont see why u cant cruise in ur car at 1800 rpm. i dont have 4.10 but it shouldnt matter... 1800rpm is 1800rpm being 4th or 5th

^^ that is correct, but the people get scared about is on the highway. with stock gears at 80 mph you are at 2k rpm and with 4.10s its almost 3k rpms. around town you wont see any difference if you keep your foot off the gas. the biggest problem is highway.
