I need help.
I have a 2001 bullitt, and I got my vortech just recently now I want to build a strong short block but on a budget what should I do. Where should I start.... I dont want to crazy but I want something solid say for like 450-550 wrhp...My current motor is fine I just afraid that in due time it will happen...boommm.

I think a nice forged rotating assembly would do for around that hp range. That's basically all you need besides the necessities that come with the supercharging such as upgrading the fuel delivery system. Just remember to get dished pistons to lower compression.

Some people might call me stupid but to me, If your gonna spend so much money on a build motor, make sure it has 600+rwhp
Plenty of people on here say its plenty safe to have 400hp on these motors, but when you spend over 10k on your motor alone... unless its N/A, i expect you to blow by a new Z06

properly taken care of, and assuming you don't beat the hell out of it constanly, a 400 to 420~ whp car with a stock shortblock should run for a long long time.
All of the name brand shortblocks that are fully forged will handle the power level you are wanting to achive. When I end up doing the shortblock (for more power) I am going to go with VT engines. I have heard nothing but good things about them and its the only shortblock MPH likes to use.
BTW, it will be tough to make that much with a completely stock top end (H/C/I). MPH has several cam only cars (shortblock + custom ground cam and a blower) in the 550-600 range though.

if your really on a budget (all the guys on here seem to be rich and like buying overpriced blocks) you can eaisly get away with just a nice piston and rod for about 700-800 plus assembly cost unless you assemble it yourself and the money you save get some cams, intercool it, new belt and bigger pulley and you will still be in the project for less than the cost of a "name brand block" and still be able to push the 500hp safely this is assuming your truely on a budget cuz i know i am and this is what im doing i would love nothing more than to buy an already assembled short block but its just not practical

What I want to know is what ist he differnce between a 1500-1800 dollar rotating assembly and the 3400 dollar assembled shortblock they sell. Must be a ton of stuff in there to make up the difference, the blocks are cheap.

RE: I need help.
Don't they use all high grade hardware (like ARP's,) to include machining the block, assembly and shipping?
Sure, you're mostly paying for the assembly work and machining.. I'd rather put it together myself, after a pro has done all of the milling correctly..
2 more months...
