Default suspension

I'm very new to the mechanical world of cars and I have a 2001 GT, and I'm not really sure why suspension helps increase speed on the drag. I know suspension helps turning and handling and slolam and all that for obvious reasons. But I dont understand why doing suspension work helps speed straight up. I want to do some suspension work, but according to the sticky thread "everything you ever wanted to know about suspension" theres a ton of cons. So I'm not sure what to do that'll help out my cars speed and handling. Any tips?

Default RE: suspension

it keeps your tires planted to the ground, which means less wheel hop, less slippage, and more power gets to the ground

once i build my motor, i'm doin the rear suspension and then that's it

Upper and lower controll arms first.

Ooh and also some subframe connectors te will keep you from twisting more even traction.
