if i push on the belt on the right side of the alternator, i can push it down to the water pump, and the tensioner gives a little. is that normal? i figured there should be a lot more tension than to be able to push the belt down that far. anyhoot, just thought i'd ask you lovely ppl

when the car is on does your belt tensioner back any funny noises?

 

yeah mine just started making noises and is easy to push the belt in. Tensioner spring is shot. you can drive with it but it gets anoying.

 

yeah do you hear anything while driving? May be a startup squeal, faint squeak when you let off the gas and/or shift gears...

i'd say get an OEM motorcraft tensioner and a gatorback 'goodyear' belt... those are the shyt

 

you dont hear anything while driving. its when you sitting idling at stop lights. thats were it gets annoying.
