Default BBK 75mm TB/BBK PLENUM-NOT MUCH AT ALL

Added these last weekend and got the Brenspeed tune in yesterday and not much change, in fact no change but 13.9's are consistant. I guess for an automatic convertible that it's not bad. I'd pass on the TB/Plenum if I had to do it again. JFYI. Mark

I wouldn't pass on it.. especially if you plan on getting a blower... also, Sweet what were the conditions you were running in before and after? was it on that GT Tech thing or a track? 75mm tb/plenum should add around 10rwhp, you shouldn't expect to see drastic differance, but its like the rest of the intake and exhaust, where it helps everything else gain more because you're able to get more air, and eliminating a bottle neck effect in your car.

Get a nice 3200 stall torque converter and watch them 1/4 mile time drop. There was a writeup in MM&FF about a year ago where they took a 99 or 00 GT Vert and put on a off road H, 410 gears, and a high stall torque converter and it went 13.69 in the 1/4. To me the TB/BBK plenum is a waste of money if you going to stay N/A.

I'm planning for my 1st mod on my '03 GT N/A stang to add a CAI kit. During my research, I ran across this and figure to do the entire system all at once - upgrading my TB & Plenum with the "complete Stage 3 power package with System # 5" @ $460 from http://www.tunableinduction.com/ (then select "GT Stage Systems" from the top menu).

So guys, it's not really worth it to upgrade the TB & plenum on a N/A stock car? I have no real future aspirations to ever add a supercharger, thus the TB & plenum is not really worth it? Also, if I did upgrade the TB & plenum, do I then have to get a tune? OR do I have to get retuned only if I upgrade the MAF?

I'm sort of new to all this ... any advice would be greatly appreciated !!!

PS - I plan to add cat-back exhust too, but 1st I want to address my air intake ...

TB/plenum (5-8rwhp) will actually give you more power then just a intake(~5rwhp), or just catback exhaust on a 2v car(~5)... combined you will maybe get 15-17rwhp... TOPS. Best thing you can do to your GT is a tune and gears.

Yes I use a G-tech type timer. These have been tested by the mags and are quite accurate. All I look for is the general direction the mods/yuning I do make taking me.
Before the BBK products and the SCT custom tune I had a best of 13.95. Yesterday evening when it was cool my best was a 13.95. 0-60 mph was 5.45. 60' was 2.15. My mods are these with my observations:
1.Gears/4.10's-good base for future mods, alone maybe a tenth.
2. PYPES catted X-pipe and catback-again not much but only expected 10WHP
3. JLT CAI-best mod/.15 and .9 MPH
4. Steeda timing adjuster-best bang for buck. Brenspeed said I would not see a big difference with the custom tune because I already had a Predator with an additional 6* added to that.
5. UDP's-nothing nnoticeable-what should I expect for what is worth 5 whp?
6. SCT custom tune
still like this- Brent knows what he is doing and good for future use.
7. BBK items-nothing noticed/measured but again it is a 7 WHP mod according to a dyno test.
With a 2v a lot cannot be expected. I truly believe a 3000stall converter and a set of slicks would get this car a 13.5 at the track, which by the way is closed and during the season my Sunday mornings are at Worship servise in church. They run 1 friday test & tune which I missed.
High 13's with 2 guys in the car(3750lbs.) isn't bad with an automatic with no type of power launch or it would fry the tires.
With some tweaking I might get into the 13.8's and again, not bad. Is the TB/plenum going to have you say WOW!-no. Is it a good part of a package, probably. I may go KB SC next year so maybe these mods will be worth more then. Anew mach 1 motor with shaker for $3895. from Karkraft is the best way to go if you don't want a SC! Mark

Sweet and I have had this discussion about his gtech, [8D]. The UDP freed up 7 or 8 rwhp for my car... The reason I went ahead and did all the mods is because 8, 8, and 5 rwhp gains arent much but they do add up to 21rwhp - which you can feel!

I don't exactly how im reading it but did you say the 4.10's only made you .1 faster??

I also used Brent from brenspeed for my tune, I did like his tune except for the way 5th gear sounded, lol...

Sweet, not sure where you are located but i'd say bring it to a shop get it dyno'ed.. then bring it to that track and see what you can do... the GT Tech really isn't very accurate - I dont care what magazines say, i've used one. Also remember, it has to do with the surface of the road too - on the street is MUCH differant then the track.
