Default 5.0 guy, new to 4.6s

Well i made some posts in the 5.0 section, basically my car (modded 94 GT) got stolen and crashed into a tree, and im getting some money from it. Well, since then ive been looking more and more at the 4.6s. I'm thinking about picking up a 96-98 Cobra since thats in my price range, i was just wondering if u guys could tell me a little bit about it. Does it have the 2v or 4v heads? What would be some good few first mods? How much money would it take to eat ls1s? things to that effect. Sorry guys, i just dont really know much about the 4.6s, and i dont have a whole hell of a lotta cash to drop on a new car.

yeah it has 4v...

oh and if you care about serious upgrades... dont buy a 2v modular mustang... either get the 4v cobra or mach's or stick with the 5.0's

=P

Yes it's a 4V . You can do one of two things to increase your power! You can throw some cams on there for around 40hp or you can buy a stock cobra superchager all day on ebay for around $1000 with all accessories. Put a pulley on that and you'll get a nice 80-100hp increase!

Damn. i would probably start with shorty headers, o/r h-pipe and some loudmouths, some 4.10s, then slap some cams on that bitch! What is out there as far as Heads and intakes for the cobras? I pretty much have my heart set on a 96-98 cobra, and if it comes with the 4v heads then im going to get it. How much can the stock block on these take? Can they be stroked like the 5.0s? I might look for all the power i can get before adding some boost, because if im gonna boost it im going KB and that costs a pretty penny.

dont stroke and super... the engine wont be as strong. theres no point to stroking it anyway, just boost it all day long =P

how much boost would it take? I know stock 5.0s were good for around 10 pounds.

I'm pretty excited about getting a 96-98 cobra actually, So cams are worth a good amount on these? how about the heads and intake? I guess stroking it wouldnt be the greatest? I wanna save boost for last so any other mods i can do before boost to see osme power just lmk.

most people dont stroke the 4.6. and i know the 2v can only take about 10psi stock. as for the heads, they dont really make aftermarket heads like the 5.0's have, you could always P&P them tho.

first mods id do would be.... exhaust, cams, gears, and wider rear end rims. if your planning on boosting it eventually, i would hold off on the cams... wait till you get the blower, and add some blower cams with the blower

the gears and rims will add a nice touch, sometimes the best performance mods dont add hp, they just get it to the ground better
