all stock?

RE: all stock?
4v's.
As to the small HP difference's, I'm not sure. It could very well be in just the tune and I don't remember much for engine revamps through the years until 03/04.
I'm not exactly up to date on pre-03/04 Cobra specs.

RE: all stock?
You really think that would be a good race from a dig? I don't really see how. A 96/98 cobra would take a 00 GT with little problem I would imagine. 45 more horses and about the same weight doesnt look good for a gt. Would be close, but I think the cobra would have the advantage 9 times out of 10.

Anything after that, or starting from a roll will be bad for the GT though. And also, a rear-end gear change will be more beneficial for the Cobra as well, since it will allow them to make better use of their higher revs and upper-range power.
Just some information.

Yeah, I know they are 4v. My 97 Cobra has the Romeo heads, and I was wondering it the 99/00's were different. If they arent, then its probably just the tune or some minor intake or exhause changes (I'm sure the exhaust is different).

ask any 96-98 Cobra owner (stock) and they will tell you that the torque curve on those cars is funky, and most of their power is only in the HIGH rpms. 99-04 GT's pull harder down low than a SN-Cobra, allowing them to get a jump in the first 1/8 mile of a race.

RE: all stock?
I own a 97 Cobra. Yeah the torque curve is funky, but it rips through the low end of the curve so fast it really doesnt matter. It starts making good power anywhere above 2800-3000 rpm. Also, it makes power almost all the way to redline (about 7k). It would be a decent race, but I think the gt would usually lose.

Well, I am just going based on all the people I have talked to and such. And if you check most of the credible sources.. a 96-98 Cobra is in the 14.0-13.9 range, while a GT is 14.0-14.2 or so...
basically, a very close race assuming equal drivers..

RE: all stock?
That's true, CLINT!
But, majority of 99-04 GT drivers run mid/high 14's stock for stock, whereas most 96-98's will run high 13's or low 14's.
Equal drivers, the Cobra will definitely win, by a respectable amount.
Mediocre Cobra driver vs good GT driver = could be a Cobra driver very upset.
