LT camaros and Firebird dont hold your breath. You cant beat any cobras. Trust me. Ive just barley gotten to the point where i can take N/A cobras and thats only from the low end. From a 40 or so roll theyll take me but down low they suck (good ol IRS haha). Stay away from the V-8s!!! You'll lose to all other v-8 muscle cars other than old vettes and pre-lt camaros and ofcoarse the slow @$$ hemi chargers. I just beat an SRT-8 Charger at the track. I was really disappointed that for 425 hp they were that slow! Hmm maybe a bad driver. Anyways stock 00 gts are dooogggsss. BTW you cant beat SRT-4's, STi's, Jetta GLI's, Evo's or any other turbo import. Old supras and vr-4s shouldnt really be a problem. This is coming from a guy who rolled around in a stock 00 mustang gt for a good while and raced everyone i could. Mustangs stock are pathetic. Even the new 3v's! Even the 4v's (N/A) are dogs! But with a few grand youll be beating the $#!+ out of most cars out there. Just dont race too much untill you do that lol. I just raced an LT automatic T/A saturday night and was like ah this should be easy but got my arss handed to me. Turns out he had tuner, LT's, intake, pullies, ram air, the works. Bastard. He was 310 at the wheels. I felt so shamed that i had to go beat up on an 88 vette to get my confidence back up! I raced a 99 vette too. Bone stock. I hung in there pretty well. I was suprised actually.

You know why did it take the s/c cobra to beat the LS-1 Camaros? What the f was the new edge mustang competing with? Stock stangs just got embaressed by every stock camaro out there. When my car was stock everytime i ended up stairing at the @$$ end of a camaro i thought i made the wrong choice, that is untill i put the top down and girls all said they loved the stang better than any mexistyle camaro haha. Anyways even the N/A cobras couldnt keep up with SS LS-1 Camaros and WS-6 LS-1 RamAir Firebirds. The terminators ate them alive but still. Ford needs to step it up! The new mustang should be about 350 hp and that would make everyone happy. . . still wouldnt even be able to touch the new LS2 GTO's. . . Ford needs a mustang thats between 375 and 450 hp N/A to be a GTO killer. Faster than the stock gt's but not as pricey as the cobra. Eh i guess thats why they have the after market. The money i said from buying a stang instead of a camaro i put into the car and now i can eat those LT-1s alive!

this article compares 3 classics within the same price range.

Bullitt, Mach 1, and 99 Cobra

they are not much different in 0-100 times which is surprising because the bullitt should have been killed. its not a dragstrip warrior, its suppose to be a sweet "show-off" ride that can back up its looks if it has to.

also, surprisingly, the bullitt has a quicker launch then the 99 cobra and tied to the mach 1 due to the fact that the 2v motor was specifically made to produce more low-end torque.

Cobra____ 2.109_____ 5.25_____ 13.62 @ 105.2
Bullitt____ 1.767_____ 5.15 _____13.59 @ 102.4

"How's that for surprises? Who'd have thought a Cobra was slower than a Bullitt? And dig how the Mach 1 is more than a half second quicker to 60 mph than the Cobra--no wonder SVT put a blower on the '03 snake.

they also tested the 3 vehicles in the slalom:
"Of the three we tested, the Bullitt 'felt' the best...was the most confidence-inspiring. The front wasn't heavy, the rear wasn't heavy, the whole car felt poised and balanced. Also, is it lower or does it have a lower center of mass? It feels like it. It'd drift all four corners like a BMW. Saaaweet!"-5.0 magazine


in braking, the bullitt was the best of the three:
"Once again the Bullitt outshone its more illustrious cousins. Stopping from 60 mph in just 118 feet and from 100 mph in 338 feet--that's two-and-half car lengths less than the Cobra--the Bullitt also earned nice praise from Chris. "This 118-foot stop from 60 mph backs up our previous 119-footer from Motor Trend's '01 Bullitt test, but the 338-foot [stop] from 100 is way better than a 361-foot stop a year ago. It took three stops before distance began to increase."
