Crazydan is definitely right. I have seen a guy completely twist his car in half just about with a 460 in a 01 GT. Funny but then again not.

yeah i think putting a 427 under the hood is radical, but not completly out of the question.

the main point i wanna bring up is you are goin to more than double the weight of the front end, more weight takes more power to move that mass.

You would probally be better goin with a DDS forged short block and build the living ****t out of it.

I run FE big blocks in my drag car. They make awesome torque and power. But here are some things to remeber. 1. Good luck in finding one 4-sale. 2. If supercharging Roots or Screw types respond the best on FE's. 3. You must find a cross-bolt main FE if you want to supercharge it other wise it wont do anything but be an expensive mess on the dragstrip. If you have any other questions msg me.

the biggest issue with the FE will be the K Member.....it won't work with a FE oil pan!

What about the money a trans would run to handle that power?

There is a 00 GT vert for sale on ebay that has a 460 conversion. Carb and the works. Its not dreaming window lickers you guess are just too narrow minded haha. As for trans just get a powerglide. Thats all you ever need haha. A 460 fits just fine because remember kids the reason our 4.6's and 5.4's are so tight is becuase of the head/ohc setup. Older carb style crate engines do not have that problem with lateral space comsumption so your only problem is getting a cowl hood big enough to fit that roots blower you plan to mount on top of that 460. I think even codes hood would be too short lol. Tell me its a roots blower too haha. What other blower would be right for a carb'd big block! Of coarse he could get a cobra motor to much just as much power but it would be a hell of a lot cheaper to do a big block. Shoot i could make 800 to 900 hp out of a N/A carb'd 460. Try doing that with a N/A modular motor. . .

[sm=bs.gif]Go with an alluminum block for your 427/460. Itll end up being lighter than the cast iron block you have in there right now lol well itll be close to the same weight.
