You guys are crazy. a 99-04 goes 290 - 300 at the rears w/ full bolt ons.
Not even close.

I have seen a few ones close to 280 WHP, but that was more than likely on a "friendly" dyno.

On a typical dynojet your talking around 260 to 270 WHP. Add cams and your in the 280 to 290 WHP range, with a few guys hitting 300, once again on friendly dynos.

I have seen PI swaps for around 1200 or so (people doing them for that anyway).

A set of aftermarket cams is around 550 to 600 bucks.

You might be able to get a better deal at a local junkyard. The real problem is getting it installed. Its gonna be pricey unless you can do it yourself.

If it were me, I would shop around for a 99-04 2v engine in a junkyard, and just swap the entire thing in. That way, not only do you get a brand new engine (or at least one with less miles hopefully) but you do not have the increased compression that results in a PI swap, so you can still add a blower down the road without problems. Plus, you can run the more agressive PI cams instead of the NPI stuff with less lift (PTV contact is a problem on PI swapped cars)

Believe it or not, swapping the entire engine would be easer than the PI swap. You can stuff the entire thing in there without taking anything on the engine apart, and having to deal with the cam timing/chains etc etc.

If I was you I'd leave that engine alone.

If you are going to keep the car for a long time and want power, buy a 03-04 Cobra pull-out motor for about 7k. Very strong shortblock, and best heads Ford has ever designed.

it all depends on what you can get it for at a junkyard.

I am all in favor of doing a 4v swap too, so long as its a 03/04 cobra engine, but good luck finding one, and its gotta be more of a PITA than a 2v swap.

if you need to rebuild the bottom end on your NPI engine, and you arn't talking about going with a forged unit, I would definatly just by a junkyard PI car. By the time you pull your NPI engine, rebuild it, and put the PI stuff on it your well past the cost of a PI engine anyway.

Your talking about going from 190~ WHP stock to 225-230 WHP stock. Anything you add on (exhaust etc) after this point will see much better gains on the PI equppied car.

Assuming you have a full exhaust and all the intake boltons, you should see about 265 WHP with a PI swap, 280~ with cams and the swap, and 300+ with all that and ported heads.
