Finding The Right Stang
I don't get it. Everyone says that Mustang GTs are a dime a dozen yet the only ones I can find in my price range (under $10,000) around me (within 200 miles) have either very high miles (80,000+ miles) or are in crappy shape. I keep hearing that I should be able to find a Mustang GT (1999 or 2000) with under 80,000 miles from around $8,000 or so. How is this possible? I have been searching for two months and have managed to find very little. I check want ads, auto trader, craigslist, cars.com but have yet to find one that I want. Where should I look?

The prices advertised on the media are not written in stone. You need call private sellers and ask them if the prices are negotiable. Then after you check out and evaluate the car, haggle your way down by pointing out flaws.

very true.
I bought my mustang from a private owner, and he originally wanted 14,700.
i got him down to 13,000 with a new car cover, a chip burner and software, and his new floor mats.
i also drove about...2 hours to get my mustang. sometimes you just have to be willing to travel to buy your car.
good luck!

Thats not too typical for a 99-04 GT. Although it had 97k on it, I found mine on craigslist for $6000 and the owner happened to be right down the street. I guess theres a certain degree of luck involved[&:].
