Default New car? goin for GT, year?

K, i turned 17 in Aug. I have had my Mustang since i was sixteen and am still making $200 a month payments. I have a ton of ups and i can beat stock GTs no prob but im a N/A guy and im pretty much topped out. My new plans are buying a GT, 2005+ way too much, 99-04 are ok but HIGH millage. Most 96-98 GT's have about 70k on em. So whats the major difference in performance/handling? I know ones split, and ones single. What else? how much do they weigh in at? ive got about 9k to spend. 99 cobra with 77k miles only $8k by my house. Thanks alot fo any help

something is wrong with the cobra to only cost 9k

The 99-04 cars are "PI" or power improved . They have a better cylinder head/camshaft/intake manifold design than the 96-98 GTs.

A 96-98 GT will not respond well at all to minor boltons, or even major ones really.

In either case, if your a "n/a guy" this is not the car for you if you want to make big numbers. 330~ WHP about taps it out for a n/a 4.6 2v, and costs well over 10k to hit that mark all told.

What all is done to your 3.8 that your beating stock GTs?

And what do you mean by "ones split, and ones single" ?

BBK CAI, t/b, 4:10 Gears, Underdrive pulleys, head, intake, and throttle body performance kit (Roush), MSD ignition kit, custom aluminum driveshaft, Shift kit, full exhaust, Roush suspension, Roush stage 2 weight reduction. And probly the best tune on a 6er.
