'99 GT clutch question
Hi guys and gals, looking to become a member of your group very soon. I'm looking at a '99 GT ragtop with the 5 speed. My question concerns the clutch. It seems to engage very high in the pedal travel. I've driven sticks all my life, but mostly foreign cars. So is it normal for the mustang clutches to engage high or is this a sign of needing a clutch soon?? It's got 63k miles on it.
Thanks for the help!

RE: '99 GT clutch question
Well not always. Depends on the clutch thats in it. Mine was brand new a few months ago and it still released right at the top and thats the way I like it so when I race you dont have to press the pedal all the way to the floor. The best way to tell if you need a new clutch besides taking it out and looking is go out to an old road somewhere in the middle of no where and do like 10 good hard launches and see if it slips any at all. It should snap your neck if its in good condition. I drove a '99 and didnt like it at all. The clutch was actually bad because I felt the rev over when you really got on it in first. Also a clutch will start slipping in 4th and fifth gears first most of the time.
