My mom just got rid of her 96 red tarus at like 130k miles...Here was the problems: rust, a/c went bad ( i live in tx...soo...) o2 sensor went to ****, power steering pump was on its way out (just a ford thing) hmm lets see, i cant really remember. I think we mostly got rid of it cuz of the rust we wanted to sell it while it still had some resale value left. She got a fusion. But if you treat a tarus good and do all the PM it will run forever and give you great gas milage....mid to lower 20s in my med-heavy traffic town and med to upper 20s on highway...theyre really arrowdynamic and only a 3.0 in them. If the one you want has had all the PM done to it, id buy it if i was you.

I've got a 00 Ranger and it has 96,xxx miles on it right now. Its been very good to me as a daily driver all thru college and at the end of my high school years. The only problem that I've seen it had is that in between shifting gears, instead of idling like normal... it wants to rev up from time to time. No one has been able to solve this mystery [>:] But other than that, I would reccomend almost any Ranger in the 90's as a beater.

Seriously:
1500 bucks buys you just one thing: Other people's trouble.

If you want something good that doesn't give you problems you will need to spend at least twice that. On second thought, make that thrice…
