Default Cobra Stroker

Alright guys. Everyone knows what i want to build for my car here in the next couple of years (5.1 stroker, twin turbo, etc.) But heres the thing. I am looking at 4v's now becuase of obvious reasons. When you do a twin turbo setup you'll have exponential gains on a 4v as compaired to a 2v. Air just flows better through a 4v. Heres the catch: Should i get a used Cobra motor from a junk yard or ebay and then get the block machined and get the stroker crank and pistons and crank and then go from there or should i get the 5.1 stroker short block and throw some ported 4v heads and intake on it. With the first id have all the things i need (cams, timing chains, accesories, etc.) On the later i dont have to have it machined but i have to buy all the little shiet. Basically starting from scratch building my own engine. What do you guys think. As for trannies im torn between a beefed up 5 speed, a beefed up 6 speed, or the always victorious powerglide/slapshifter (when your making a lot of power you dont have time to shift) Any suggestions would be nice.

If your pockets are deep enough, the 5.1 short block with ported 4v heads sounds like an indestructable combo. As for a tranny, all high end supercars have at least a 6spd. (F430, porche turbos, austin martins, ford GT, etc). 6spd. are the way to go unless your building a drag car.

What 5.1 are you talking about? The CHP 5.1 stroker shortblock? If so thats not boost friendly since it bores the block out way too much and makes the block walls way thin. Its ok for NA but not boost. If you must get a stroker get one from VT Engines. Theirs atleast makes some power.
