Hey guys, I know this is a newbie question but what does "modular" engine mean?

All the mod motors, in THEORY should have interchangable parts. This means that you can take the heads from an 04 Lincoln Navigator (5.4L 4v) and put them on your 99 Mustang GT (4.6L 2v) and everything will be grand, no special fabrication required...

But I say that's a theory because it didn't turn out that way in reality, although it's pretty close... 99% of parts will be a direct swap, and if they are not, only minor changes are required.
