Default lowering

Do lowering springs help performance or do they just lower the car in its stance? And how low can you go before you start to bottom out on speed bumps. I would like to lower mine a bit. I'm not sure how low I can go though with good clearance. I'd prefer not to take every speed bump sideways, but I can if I need.

They lower your center of gravity which will help in cornering.

Lowering your car actually hurt your track numbers because you can't hook up as well.

Default RE: lowering

Aside from lowering the CG it does nothing for the car. At best a low center of gravity will help cornering on flat tracks.
Lowering the front can hurt front suspension geometry, alignment and handling
