leaking gas?!?!?
Ever since I had my h-pipe installed my gas semms to leak. Before my h pipe, it did leak if i filled it all the way up and smelled like gas every now and then, But now it is horrible, I fill up before work, and after work it is down to 3/4 tank and it reeks like gas all the time. I am assuming i am in need of a new gas tank???

RE: leaking gas?!?!?
You need to find out where the gas is leaking from before you jump to conclusions. I doubt it has anything to do with your exhaust.
Your fill tube and fuel sending unit are a good place to start if it leaks with a full tank.
If it leaked before, it's probably the fuel inlet hose at the tank.

I think that it might be my fill tube, i am at school right now and will check it out when i get home, this is driving me nuts though, i have a little bit over half a tank with 37 miles on the tank

RE: leaking gas?!?!?
That's weird. That just happened to me last week. Everytime I turned left, gas would leak out of my filler neck tube and onto my exhaust (very dangerous). There is a rubber seal that has gromets on it that connects your fuel tank to your fuel filler tube. It rips. Mine was ripped almost all of the way around. I bought the seal at Ford for exactly $19.09 after tax. I get it for cost since I'm a Ford Technician, so I don't know what the mark up is, I would imagine around $50 or so. Here's what to do...
-Make sure that there's not that much fuel in your tank. On the passenger side, there is a bracket that holds the filler tube and the gas tank. There is only 1 screw that holds it in, I think it's an 8mm. Take it out and slide that bracket out of the way.
-There are 2 straps holding your gas tank. They are each held on by a 13mm bolt. The driver's side strap has the bolt in the front of the tank (closer to the front of the car) and the passenger side has it in the back of the tank (closer to the back of the car). Loosen them up and take the bolts out. When you do this, your tank is going to drop some, so make sure you have it supported somehow.
-Now slide the filler tube out of the tank. You may have to jerk the tank and tube away from each other to get it out.
-Once it's out, take the old rubber seal out of the tank. When going to put the new one in, make sure to lube it with grease. I used di-electric grease. Lube the hell out of the new seal and the filler tube. It makes it easier when installing them.
-Installing works the same. It only took me 10 minutes to do on a lift. If you're in the driveway, maybe about 20-30 minutes. Good luck and let me know how you made out...

RE: leaking gas?!?!?
The last time I filled my car up before I did my seal, I got about 10 miles and was at a little more than 3/4 tank. When I went back to the gas station to see why the hell they didn't fill my tank up, I saw a puddle of gas at the pump and then I figured it out.

RE: leaking gas?!?!?
I just found my reciept for the seal. Part number: F4ZZ-9072-DA. The list is $29.72. So expect to pay a mark up of around 20%-30% I think all seals are the same from 94-04 so the part number and price should the same, too.
