Well of course, with DR's. But he said he was having traction problems, so if he were running DR's then there wouldnt be a problem with traction. Thats why I say feather the clutch, because he is probably still running stock tires.

Only thing I'm concerned with is traction. My car serioulsly can not grab for ****. If I revv up to 2000 rpms then dump the clutch it will spin really bad. I dont know if feathering the clutch will help or not.

You NEVER want to dump the clutch! Thats what Newbies do! LOL Just rev it up to what you like and when its time to roll then slowly release it till you are all the way out of clutch and all the way down on the gas. Never just pop the clutch.
This isnt exactly true. If you are running D/Rs popping the clutch is usually faster than any other method. If I rev to 3k, and then pop the clutch hard (after the nittos are heated up) I lauch like a ****.
If your on stock tires all you need to do is rev your car to 1500 rpm and pop the clutch....The tires will barely turn and you will be on your way...No need to rev anything beyond that.

I would never feather the clutch in a GT...Cobra yes.....GT=no...

ok ive raced a acura gsr with a bone stock v6 stang and the acura only had rims tires exhaust and intake..i pulled him a bit till vtech kicked in then he won but it was a close one....as far as a prelude i think it would depend on the driver unless he doesnt have vtech then he wouldnt be worth racing

WHAT??? Do you know what does and how feathering will help you. Any time I pop the clutch I spin through first and most of the way through second.

What you are saying is the GT doesnt have the power a Cobra has so there is no need to feather the clutch??? NOT TRUE WHAT SO EVER!

I'll correct you before 2000 gets here. It's vtec* not vtech* I know, it's pointless.

I still think it's funny when someone actually says "vtec kicked in."

Hey Everyone, this will be My first post hers on Mustangforums.com I figured i could contribute to this thread.

Im a Moderator for the 5th generation prelude forum(97-2001) over on preludepower.com And im considered to be a very knowledgeable person for the prelude.

I just got my 02 gt 5spd so ive owned both cars and driven then hard. Stock for stock, the GT wil take the prelude.

1. The stock time is a 15.4-5 So arround the mid 15s for a prelude 5spd.
2. The DOHC H22 engine produces 200HPflywheel 156 TQ.
3. A good bit of that power comes AFTER 5100 Rpm where that Secondary cam lobe(vtec) is in action

I see no problem that a gt could win but a 96 gt will be pretty tight as the HP is close, but you have twice the torque, so depending on the race length youll get it.
