Default Looking for a beater...

I know that I posted this a few weeks back, but I think I have finally found something that I like and just wanted to hear your guy's opinion. What do you think about a mid 90's jeep grand cherokee w/ the inline 6 4.0 liter I believe. All I can remember about this car is that a about 3 years ago one of my buddies in highschool had one and it would roast the tires in across the parking lot lol. It had something like 200k miles and seemed strong. Any thoughts?

I had a JGC before I got my Mustang. Good, solid truck. I wish I could have afforded to get the Stang and keep the Jeep for the winter. My GC was a 95 and had 140K. They are known to last well into the 200K range when cared for properly. You've got my blessing

if your looking for a 4x4 beater, also try looking at older Toyota Pickups. i had one before i got my mustang, it was an awesome truck, i loved that thing. beat the **** out of it, and it never quit.

I just want something with relatively cheap insurance and something which I can buy for 1500 bucks or so and the jeep just happened to fit both criterion.

if you don't need 4x4 a mercedes 240d or 300 td. Like a mid 80's one. If you find one with decent paint and interior, great cars....Cars are known to go upwards of 300k. Seen one with 500k. Easy maintennace=oil changes basically....I had an 83 240 d auto (rare since these were almost always manual) with flawless paint and interior...I mean not a dent in the body or tear in the seats....120k on it when I got it....Which for these cars is barely broken in....Drove it till 180k and then sold it to a friend who need a car....For a whopping 1200...Wish I had kept it...Oh by the way........35-40 mpg...Can't beat that....
