Default Fuel Pump Question?

Whats up fellas,

I just got my car dynoed on Friday and it put up pretty good numbers. I made 397.7 at the wheels and 378.1 ft-lbs of torque.
We could have gotten more out of the car, but my fuel pump crapped out. Just wondering if you guys could recommend a good fuel pump to handle the power i'm putting out.

what pump are you running now? I have similar numbers, and i run a SVT Focus pump. I also have a KB Bap to ensure pressure is stable.

It all depends, I think I'm using a stock fuel pump. Unless my Vortech Supercharger comes with a upgraded pump?

it could have or should have. what is your fuel pressure throughout your run? If you didnt put the s/c on, it is possible to be running the stock pump, but i doubt it. Different kits include the pump and others dont.

It was stable at 39 until it got to 6100 RPM's then it dropped to 23. So I figured I needed a stronger fuel pump to be safe...

I'm running 42lb injectors and I use the Diablo Mafia extender. I chose to go with that instead of the 90MM MAF. where do you order the boost a pump and the fuel pump? How much was it? and is it easy to install?

Default RE: Fuel Pump Question?

i got the svt focus pump on ebay, was probably 100, have seen then cheaper on occasion. Install is pretty easy. You do have to drop the tank, which is alot easier than it sounds, remove some bolts to take out the old pump, you do have to use the stock screen but it will be pretty self explanitory when you do it. The boost-a-pump is from Kenne Bell. I am not saying you need one, it was suggested to me by a my tuner, who is a VP for DynoJet out here in Vegas. The bap was like $240, and very easy to install, just splicing some wires. I didnt use the boost sensor, just hard wired it full time.
I was wondering if your stock maf was running out of voltage is why i asked, they are usually good for 350-370rwhp, I dont have any experieince with maf extender, so hopefully it is fine. what size pulley you running?

I upgraded to the 3.33 pulley didn't want to go any higher than that until I get a Aftercooler. My Pulley is only putting out about 9 pounds of boost. The Mafia extender is pretty cool it gives you the oppurtunity to change the settings on your MAF without changing all of the tubing.

Good replies LVGordo.

Most vortech kits now contain a fuel pump. If yours didnt, you could look into a SVT Focus pump which is probably the cheapest way to go. You could also look at aftermarkets such as Walbro.

If yours was upgraded and you are still running lean, check into the BAP like lv said. What was your air fuel ratio?
