Anybody want to correct me please do because I do not know this for sure - I would not expect Ford to dyno every single car just because of the cost alone.

The HP may be a generic thing.

Agreed...the 8th character in the VIN is the engine code.

For the passenger car 4.6 motor here are the 6 codes and their respective HP ratings:

W = SOHC Gasoline 220-235
9 = SOHC CNG 220
X = SOHC Gasoline 225 (Mustang GT)
V = DOHC Gasoline 302 (Marauder)
R = DOHC Ram Air Gasoline 305 (Mustang Mach 1 )
Y = DOHC SC Gasoline 390 (Mustang Cobra)

No, you are right. Besides, if they were all dyno'd from the factory, all of these new Edges wouldn't be coming up with 225 hp...there would be a little variance in there-plus that would make it all too easy to find one of these factory beast 14 second stock GT's that people seem to get every once in a while!

The 260 HP is what you get at the crank.... the 225 hp is what actually reaches your wheels... dealerships just tell you what the car makes at the crank so they can butt rape you into getting a car that isnt really as fast as they say...

It's all generic... If that was the case, one of the guys here with a 97 gt posted it as 215HP, and that's what they actually came with at the crank. It's all Generic. 96-97 gt = 215HP, 98 GT = 225HP, 99-04 GT 260HP. 99-04's get all the glory (best looking car w/most hp).

lol...looks like they couldn't make up their mind on whether to put the rwhp or the hp at the fly in the decoder. Your Bullit should be 10-15 more hp from a GT, I believe.

Best thing to do is if you have any mods on your stang go ahead and get it dynoed, because you are now not anywhere near stock ratings. Remember that the power rating vary on many things... ie. maintainance, mods, weather....
