what's the actual build date on your car though? Mine's a 2000 but it says August of 99 on the door panel (Bought it in October of 99)

 

that is probably the measure of HP the car had off the assembly line.

If the assembly line for the mustang is anything like the corvette, they dyno it when it comes off the assembly line. And that was probably what it was putting to the wheels, not the flywheel.

But really, yeah, they are 260 HP, that sounds like RWHP since that should be about what you get on a dyno, but Ford would never advertise RWHP rather than HP. All those different smiles and the "It's a mystery" ghost still isn't there

Edit: Yeah, actually that is weird because I just ran my 97 GT's VIN through their decoder and it shows up as a full 215 HP as you can see below
