brakes pulsating and knocking on 99 GT Conv
I had my wheels/tires rotated and oil changed today. When I got the car back I noticed a whirring sound (like the sound we used to hear when we stuck a piece of cardboard between our bike spokes) as well as my brake petal pulsating at slow speeds just prior to stopping. I can feel a pulsating vibration in the brake pedal as well as a corresponding knocking sound. My first thought is the mechanic disturbed something affecting the brakes. However, not sure. One of the mechanics at the local Ford dealership said it sounds like something is wrong with one of the brake sensors. Anyone else had this problem and does anyone have any suggestions? I'm taking the car back tomorrow for further checking. Thanks in advance. Roy

I didn't have the problem before it went into the garage for the rotation and oil change but it was there when I picked up the car. That's why I'm thinking something was done to cause the problem while it was in the garage.

if the pulsating is in the brake pedal it has to be the rotors, i don't think there's anything else that will cause vibration in the pedal other than the rotors. get them checked you might need to resurface them

The pulsating immediately makes me think warped rotors, however I don't know how you wouldn't have had the issue before and now you have it. I'd go give them an earful and make them fix it.

I is hard to do but they could have managed to put a wheel on wrong. Like if they super tightenend a lug without seating the wheel properly...

i'm thinking it's the rotor(s) too, it could be the monkeys at the shop over-torqued the wheels with an impact gun and now the rotors are a little out of wack, i've seen a dumb *** buddy of mine do this already [:-]
