brake squeek

brake squeek
My brakes squeek very slightly when braking from about 15 mph-0mph. Does this mean time for new pads or what? I haven't really checked on them and I'm not sure what this means. Its absolutely annoying though, and embarassing.

RE: brake squeek
My brakes squeak a little when stopping if I give it JUST the right amount of pedal pressure, any more and it stops, and any less and it stops. I attribute it to the drilled rotors, I know I have lots of pad life left.
The squeaking is to let you know that you need to replace your brake pads. Just take a look at the pads themselves, new pads have about half an inch of thickness to them, if not more, worn pads will be almost gone. You're going to want to be looking under the caliper at the part that touches the rotor. You can stick your finger in there and feel too if you can't get a good enough view of it.
