Trashed motor, swap questions...HELP!!!
Hi everyone, Got a '97 that dropped a valve and destroyed the motor. I found an awesome deal on a 2004 motor with a 3650 tranny. I know I need to convert it from COP to coil packs but is there anything else? I think I got the motor covered but will that tranny go right in? (sensors etc.) Also, the 97 computer should work too right? I really need to make sure I didn't overlook anything that might not work with this. Thanks very much for any help,
Steve

Off the top of my head I can't really think of anything huge that you couldn't fix with a hardware store run.
Edit: One thing is the shifter will be different. You might also want to look into the speedo. I believe, not 100% the 3650 is an electric speedo and the 97 won't be set up for that.

Ok, I finally got ahold of my old guru that used to tune my cobra and he said: motor-change to coil packs, use old fuel rail with return, modify coolant temp sensor with a tee. transmission-direct bolt in but needs to be modified with a mag pick-up. I just figured I'd post that info in case anyone else needs it. I decided to keep the T45 since I hear mixed opinions on the 3650 but we'll see how the motor does. Thanks for the help,

WOW!!!! I just picked up the motor today and it is pristine! It came with all the accessories which I didn't expect so now I'm wondering if they will all work OK. (pwr steering pump, a/c compressor & alt.) Also, the old injectors are orange and the new ones are red. I always thought they color coded these but are they both 19 lbs. The motor came from a 2004 and everything is stock. Thanks again for the help,
Steve
