Default rear end

i have a friend with a 1997 mustang gt, he has a rumble from the car when driving, i think it is the rear end itself (just the pumpkin) i have a rear out of a fox car also 8.8, could i just change the pumpkin? is the spline the same, bolting the same etc. thaks

Probably an axle bearing.

But, yeah the '97 has basically the same chassis and rear end. '05 is the first year since '79 the Stang has ridden on a Fox-based chassis, and many items will interchange...now imagine a '79 Terminator....
