Default why a Mustang??

Alright everyone, I've been reading a lot of these recent threads regarding LS1's/LT1's, and racing them (another forum). I have to ask...what was it that made your decent to go with a Mustang GT over a Z28, or Trans AM?? I'm not looking for any "GM's suck posts," I want to know some detailed thoughts on this...please. I have an '02 premium package Satin Silver GT 5spd, and I love my car, but I have to say..when I was looking for a new car I started looking at WS.6's. I just did not want to part w/my Gixxer 1000 to afford one, so I stuck w/the GT. This also ruled out the '03 Cobra. I think Camaros just look too plain/bland, plus their panals, doors, and start getting loose/sqeaking way too soon IMO. They also lack the detail Pontiac T/A's have. To the point, I got a GT, because I couldn't afford a WS.6 or Cobra w/out parting w/my bike (which can spank all of the above w/out breaking a sweat) I'm curious, so let's hear some reasons here.<IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0">

I actually bought a Trans Am before mustangs , I was never a ford guy (fix or repair daily) , lol nah im jk , then I test drove a mustang , andI noticed for how much less in the green area they were for how good they kept up to my T/A , and I liked the side exhaust option which was on the oneI test drove , sounded a whole of a hell lot better then paying over another grand for the borla exhaust , andI just kinda fell inlove with the car , and now I'd put this ford against any GM out there corvette or not I'll still put it up against any GM.

I'll admit it also. I looked at Z28s and the WS6 Trans Am, but to tell you the thruth, everyone I have talked to about GM and their drivetrain problems have told me that the rearends in both the Camaro and the Trans Am both have major shortcomings. Many have shredded the spiderwebbing in the rear axle. I also wasn't too pleased with the "generic" looking interiors in either of them. I am now on my 2nd GT...a 97, now a 2002. We have had 7 of them now in the family, and neither my father or myself swore we would ever drive Fords. All it took was one really awful bout with a 91 Pontiac Sunbird Turbo and we called it quits with GM. Mustangs for life...as long as they keep makin' em at least!! <edited><editID>jimmer300</editID><editDate>37807.6670486111</editDate></edited>

Default why a Mustang??

I have just always loved the look of the mustangs, then when i started really getting into cars i realized that they are one of the best bang for the buck rides out there. But even if they didnt compete with the gm's (power wise) i would have still got one because they look awsome.

I would never, ever, buy a Ram Air T/A. I have a bud that has a sweet looking 2000 Ram Air T/A and he's had nothing but tons of minor headaches. The T-Tops leak, the horns get filled with water, seemingly, everytime it rains. The driver-side window motor was replaced three times by the dealer. And the list goes on... HE finally replaced the window motor with an AUTOZONE replacement and hasn't had a problem with it since. The car is fast andit looksgood. But,I paid $18 for my 02 GT and he paid almost $30 for his T/A. And mine looks better!</P>

It's all about bang for the buck. And the look of the Mustang...</P><edited><editID>MineralGreyGT02</editID><editDate>37808.9982060185</editDate></edited>

I know a guy who got a ram air and he has had a crap load of drivetrain problems, and lots of other little things go wrong. As for my 2000 Gt i have not had any problems with it at all...yeah thats right at all!

my 97 Z28 had a bad wiper motor, and the replacement part from the dealer was over 300, the autozone was like half that, if that. and the GM part was the problem. my mechanic told me that all mypower options would fail, windowslockes etc...and to buy the auto zone parts, not the dealers. i love chevys, but 9 things go wrong on a car with less than 50K when i bought it? come on man. iv'e put over 6K on my GT in 6 weeks, and i have had no problems yet. and it's now at almost 107K.

minus the intake manifold issue, i have 84000 hard miles on my red 98 and not a single problem. never had anything but upgrade work done. i love the way the car looks esp. on the 18 saleen wheels(hyper finish) and with the tokico illumina suspension, the car handles and drives like a dream.. the sound of a mustang is all its own. i have been hooked on them since i was a kid and will always be.. my 98 is paid off and i am awaiting the 05 to come available.

From the looks of it, it sounds like I made the right choice<IMG src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0">. I can't promise that I won't upgrade to that new C6 whenever it finally makes it to production though<IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0">. I've to save some cash first LOL
