That's funny. I get one of them from the GM dealership where I bought a 99 Silverado ended up Lemon Lawing it in 2000 to the same dealership and than 6 month ago I got one of them letters saying GM wants to buy back my 99 Silverado because they need some in the used car market or some SH$% like that. I just laughed and shredded it.
ORIGINAL: stang2000

Exactly. SHRED IT. Dude I still get letters from my local chevy dealer saying they watn to buy back my chevy S10. uh???????????? I haven't had that truck for 3 years? lol That's what I traded for the car I have now.

they arent trying to rip you off guys..

sure, they want to make money, but they mainly want your business

the GM dealer around here offered my dad above value for the '97 Cavalier he was driving, he just wasnt in the mood at the time

if you get the letter at an oppurtune time, dont toss it aside, see what they have, and are willing to work with you for..

i konw a couple people who made out alright with this sort of thing..

I would go in at least to get numbers....although it is one of my pasttimes to go in and **** with the dealers and make them realize how bad they are screwing people. i looked at an f-body once, they had it listed as 18,900, the car booked for 14,500. he was like no it doesnt we bought it for more than that theres no way. so i said look it up and he got pwnd in his office right there looked dumbfounded like "I just got ownt", then he proceeded to tell me he wouldnt make a deal cuz that was too little money and they had more money in it....just go in educated and make them look dumb. of course u can't haggle on a new car price, only your trade in on the new car.

1) buyback---all trade ins are bought from you...the diffence is in this wording you bought the car you have now from them. Its not about the car itself, they don't care which one you bought, but techincally, since you bought it from them, if you trade it into them, they did a "buyback". It's not Ford Motor Company, its the dealership.

2) lower than your monthly payments now---depends on how your original financing is set up, but suppose you picked up a car 3-4 years ago on a 5 year loan. Now your credit has improved and your making more money (hopefully) and rates are pretty darn good on new cars. They finance you for 72 months or longer on a new car with a low rate and it very well may be less. Lenders love this idea because the longer the term, the more money for them, and your happy because now your paying 30 bucks a month less. (but paying a boatload more in finance charges thru the course of the loan)
