Default Spark Timing!!!! 98 Gt

Hey guys i have a midly mod 98gt automatic. What will you guys suggest the best timing for my stang using a predetor Diablo. I know you could raise the timing untill you hear a ping but the thing is that i been messing around with the 4k-7k so at that rpm the motor is too loud to hear for some pinging. I use 91 octane chevron all the time. Help me OUT!!!!! just trying to get more high end power. My car has been already dyno tuned for WOT fuel pressure which is 9% richer across all rpms!! Just incase you guys wanted to know that!

The audible ping is only the later stages of something that generally eats away at your pistons so you would do right by beign cautious about your timing advance.

Another way to tell is by driving close to a wall with the window open.

Also use a plug color chart to tell you if you have any signs of detonation

If you have a friendly mechanic with CO & Hydrocarbon meter he may be able to tell by inserting the probe in one of the rear O2 sensor bungs. If you have no cats then just go into the tail pipe. Over advanced timing will cause Hydrocarbons to spike.

Best way is of course with a wide band with the car under load in a dyno.
