I have a BBK o/r X with 40 series flows and I LOVE IT! Its a classic racy mustang sound. The BBK is much better than mac also! Nomatter what people tell you. Me and my freind have the exact car with exactly the same stuff done. ONLY he has mac and i have BBK. I dynoed at 3 rwhp more than him and mine is noticeably louder!

I got an o/r x wit 40 series flows on my 6er and it confuses people everyday if i got a gt or v6 (until they look @ my rear bumper w/no cutouts[&o] ) I was @ Best Buy a few days ago gettin a new cd player installed and one of the sales associates heard it and came outside to take a look. He was a previous stang owner and has a friend thats got a 5.0. He swore i had 8 cylinders under the hood, and made me pop the hood to show him.. If that combination sounds that good on a 6er, i know it'll be kick A$$ on a GT!!

I don't know if you know this already or not, but the rasp your hearing is being caused by the BBK X-Pipe, not your magnapacks. BBK's X-Pipes are notorious for thier rasp. I had thier x-pipe and flowmasters as my old set up and i thought i sounded mean as hell! But i did have the rasp still, so switching to flowmaster will not get rid of the rasp, you will have to swith to either an H-pipe or different brand x-pipe. But i loved my old set up, i had compliments all the time. Give it time and it will grow on you

Flowmasters are too quiet IMO. I had 40 series flows on a 3" custom side pipes with no cat and LT's on my truck (cammed 350) and it sounded reallt good but it was still quiet and a cammed Lt 350 is a lot louder than a 4.6

Everyones opinion will be a little different but i would say do not go with flowmasters. I hate flows, i went from flowmaster cat back to a bassani catted x and magnapacks and i absolutely love it. Like previously said, maybe its that particular x pipe. Like i said everyones diff because i like the way mines a little raspy. Do you have a sound clip of it now? Heres a clip of mine to compare.

Why do people hate flowmasters so much?? Granted they wouldn't be my first choice, but I bought my car with the cat-back already. I put on a mac o/r h pipe and it's one of the best sounding mustangs around.

Bah. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, but the Flowmaster Super 40s solved a lot of the drone problem. Mine only drone for about 200rpm -- from 1900-2100. That's easy enough to avoid by speeding up or slowing down slightly. And everyone who hears my car (either inside or out) says it sounds badass. (I don't don't ask, they offer it up on their own.)

I like SLPs and Magnapacks - but they sound like modern high-tech, the Flowmasters sound like old-time big block muscle car.
