I don't think anyone brought up the other con for IRS..weight.

IRS>Solid rear in the weight category even using panhard+solid rear.

IRS is only good if its upgraded. IRS itself is ok just not the factory IRS. It sucks. But me coming from a 4wheeler background i will never ever use IRS.

I believe the estimate by golden eagle for $3-4k is way off for the level 5 IRS. Closer to $1500-$2000 depending on which brand of parts you get and who you find to do the work. I'm going with the billetflow rear diff cover brace, MM full length subframe connectors XL, Billetflow IRS support brackets, all of the urethane bushing, H&R Race Springs and 2 Nitto's out back on stock rims. I've rec'd estimates for $500-600 for installation of all. But I'll let you know what the actual total figure turns out to be.

Way off? How do you figure that? The level 5 shafts listed in that writeup is $1500 itself. If you add everything up (I'm gonna leave out the Drag Radials on this cuz I don't plan on using them) and use the $250 MM diff bushings, then its gonna be close to $3100-$3300. There maybe other places or brands that have the same things, but they used certain brands for a reason I would imagine. That might have a lower price but I honestly wouldn't deviate too far from what they used. But thats just me.

ok why did you just bomb on me and then agree and prove me right in the same post. I know all the details but he just wanted a straight answer. its crazy how people just cant even answer a simple question without someone quick to flame. Plus if he already has a live axle its pretty much pointless to switch to a IRS and then have to spend all that money so it will hold up.
Wasn't bombong...just saying that MOST cobra owners don't switch...maybe 5% do...and that is prob a really high number. You made it sound like the cobra IRS is a POS haha

not that it matters...he has a GT

Golden is about right....with the level 5s, bushings, diff brace, etc you are looking at about 3-4 grand to beef up the IRS, but it is still not indestructable.

We had a guy with levels 5s snap them at our track rental last year...6k launches with 550 rwhp on slicks will do that haha

I apologize for the confusion. I forgot that my calcs were based on only going to #7 on the list (no half shafts, toe link bars, or UCA/LCA bushings). I wasn't even considering anything more b/c I dont plan to exceed the 500rwhp mark. With my urethane subframe bushings, urethane front/rear differential bushings, full length subframe connectors, diff. cover brace, IRS brackets, and 2 Nittos my total was approx $900 w/ shipping. I figure another $700 for installation.
