Both will make the car more fun to drive, the gears will make it accelerate much faster and the shifter will make shifting more efficient. If you go with the gears, you don't NEED to get a tuner. You can get a Speedcal and that will recalibrate the spedometer for you. They run about $100. However, if you have the extra money for a tuner, get that since you can do so much more with it.
Either way you go, you'll be happy with whatever you get first.

EDIT: I have the Tri-ax, and I love it. Haven't tried out the MGW, but I hear it is good too. I think either one would be a good choice.

Go with the shifter first. MGW is considered the best in the market at this time. Make sure to go with it. Go with the gears after that and then get you a tuner. You might wanna find you a good shift **** that you feel comfortable with and something that you like alot. That means something too.

+1000 on the gears, the car will feel a lot faster with low gears. But gears(200)+install(400)+turner(400)=1000 bucks vs 200 for shifter and install is free.

Prices were estimates, so no b!tchin about how thats way to much.

P.S. If you can go drive a simmular car with low gears and then you will see how fast you will want them.

ORIGINAL: lxl 02 GT lxl

my car is pretty much stock, im 17 and im making about 300 a month after gas and insurance, should i go ahead and get a Tri-ax TR-3650 short throw shifter or wait like 5 weeks and get 4.10 gears, either way im going to get both, i just cant decide which order i should go in, any advice
If you are getting both, it'll really make no difference, but I'd probably go for the shifter, because its an easy install and u'll get the results of ur mod the same day. Just save for both, and order'em at the same time. Install the shifter a day or so before u're gear install.

The Tri-Ax is a very respectable shifter.
If it were my money I go for the MGW.

I would get the shifter ('cause you can install it yourself) then when you get the extra cash go for the 4.10.

Both are a great addition to your ride and you will be pleased with them as mod's.

I have a Steeda TRIAX in my Cobra, and it sucks compared to the MGW that i had in my gt... Only reason I have this shifter still in here is because the short throw is one of the cheaper holiday presents i can have someone get me, haha... but +1 on the gears.. they'll make a more noticable difference but remember gears + install + tune = a lot of money. You will pay 150-200 for gears, 2-400 for install based on location (I paid 200$), atleast another 100 for speedo recalibration (your speedo doesnt work right after gears), or 379+ for a tune (you can recal the speedo with the tuner)... so that could be upwards 450-1000$ depending on what you get.. i'd save up to make sure you did the gears and tune right... short throw is nice to have though

Need a transmission long enough to save for gears, get an MGW shifter now and spend the winter months saving for a gear swap.

Help protect your tranny and get the shifter ASAP.
